Friday Update, April 4th

“The Lord’s plans stand firm forever; His intentions can never be shaken.”

 As we continue navigating this school year without a dedicated Head of School, the Transition team and the Board have prioritized transparency with you. There have been moments where we felt certain God was leading us down one path, only to discover He had different—and often better—plans for us. This journey has been full of growth and learning, and I am deeply grateful for it. I believe, that as a team, VCA has grown alongside me through this experience.

At this stage, we would like to share the latest developments regarding our facility plans for the 2025-2026 school year. As we’ve communicated before, VCA is currently operating at capacity within the two campuses we have, and we are unable to safely and legally accommodate additional students without expanding our facilities. While we continue to pursue growth in our physical spaces, we will operate within our current locations during the 2025-2026 school year.

We are extremely thankful to Washington Evangelical Bible Church for generously sharing their space with our elementary programs and for their ongoing partnership. For the upcoming school year, we will maintain classrooms at the South Campus for Pre-Kindergarten through 4th Grade, with two classes in each grade from Kindergarten through 4th Grade.

At the North Campus, we will provide educational programs for 5th through 12th Grades. In our search for alternate facilities, the idea of creating an “Intermediate Pod” for 5th and 6th Grades began to take shape. We believe this model can be successfully implemented within our existing North Campus.

In this “Pod” structure, 5th and 6th grade students will transition to the increased responsibilities of middle school—changing classes, having lockers, and learning from different teachers—at a manageable pace. These students will still have a homeroom teacher for the day (as in elementary school), but they will also rotate between two Intermediate teachers for core subjects and move around the building for special classes.  More details on the 5th and 6th grade schedule will be shared soon, along with a parent night specifically for families of incoming 5th and 6th grade students. Please keep an eye out for more information as we approach the end of the school year.

Middle School (7th and 8th grades) and High School classes will continue to be offered at the North Campus, with class structures remaining similar to what we have in place now.

This week, I came across a message that filled me with hope and encouragement, reminding me of God’s unwavering and good plans for us. I’d like to share this passage from Psalms 33, from The Message translation. I find the simplicity and beauty of this version especially moving.

Psalm 33:1-11 (MSG) (Emphasis added):

“Good people, cheer GOD!

Right-living people sound best when praising.

Use guitars to reinforce your Hallelujahs!

Play his praise on a grand piano!

Compose your own new song to him;

Give him a trumpet fanfare!

For God’s Word is solid to the core;

Everything He makes is sound inside and out.

He loves it when everything fits, when His world is plumb-line true.

Earth is drenched in God’s affectionate satisfaction.

The skies were made by God’s command;

He breathed the word, and the stars popped out.

He scooped the Sea into His jug, put the Ocean in His keg.

Earth-creatures, bow before God;

World-dwellers—down on your knees!

Here’s why: He spoke, and there it was,

In place the moment He said so.

God takes the wind out of Babel pretense,

He shoots down the world’s power-schemes.

God’s plan for the world stands up,

All His designs are made to last.

Blessed is the country with God for God;

Blessed are the people He’s put in His will.”

 May this reminder of God’s unshakable plans give you peace and encouragement as we continue this journey together.

 Have a wonderful weekend!
